The Thanksgiving Holiday 2015

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and I have something HUGE to be grateful for.

Yesterday, I submitted to and was accepted by The Write Life!!! It’s almost too much to believe. 24 days in and I made it into one of my favorite resources for freelance writers! I’m ecstatic! And I’m optimistic about the future.

In recent days, my health has declined. Setbacks happen. Otherwise, I’m doing quite well. Despite this, I wanted to post this because I feel that some may be wondering about what’s next for The Freelance Dance.

Well, here it is!

New Blog, Same Site

You’ll notice this blog entry does not start with the words, “My Sweet November.” That’s because this The Freelance Dance’s first official post.

It’s strange to be writing something for this and not for my project, My Sweet November. But the reality is that my sweet November is almost up. Soon, I’ll have more free time to pitch, and I’ve set my sights high! December is looking promising.

Money and Not Turkey on My Mind

I’m thinking about what I where I want to be. My pitching numbers are great! I’m pitching at 44% so far. Not all jobs are paying jobs, but they are jobs! I count every single one.

Beginning in December, I’m going to reduce my free work down a bit. With the exception of what I call “exchanges” (where another blogger and I exchange guest posts), I won’t be doing much free work. The goal is to only have paid gigs coming in beginning in December.

My Financial Report

Oh, believe when I say I’m going to post one! Why not? Of course, this one will include October and November’s figures. And I’m happy to report that I’ve already turned a profit on my $64! I’ll get more into that on December 1st.

Pitching Goals

Because I’ve followed the course day by day, I’ve pitched a total of 46 gigs since I started pitching on Day 11. In fact, I got my first one that night! That works out to about 3 pitches per day.

In December, I want to play the numbers game and up that to 10 per day. That breaks down to:

  • 4 responses to ads
  • 3 cold pitches w/ideas
  • 3 cold pitches to websites w/o blogs or underused blogs

Doing this may take some planning. But by doing this, I only have to find 4 ads worth pitching to. Then, I only have to find 3 online magazines to pitch to. And only 3 websites w/o blogs.

We’ll see how this goes.

Daily Blog Posts

I cannot believe the outpouring of support I’ve received while on this journey. In the beginning, I honestly thought people would grow tired about reading my thoughts every day. Instead, I received a message from someone that had me crying.

She asked me not to reveal her name but gave me permission to post an excerpt of what she sent me. Here it is:

“I want you to know that I’ve come to count on your daily posts as part of my day. It’s incredible that you’re doing this with all you have going on! You’re my motivation. I have used everything you’ve posted to start building my online business. Like you, I want to help others who are coming up. Not that I’m far. Um, no, I’m just scratching the surface. I wish I was where you are and where Gina Horkey is.”

Don’t we all want to be further ahead than we are?

New Blog Post Schedule

Unless I decide to blog my way through another course (I’m game if you want to suggest something!), I’ve committed to posting twice per week. Now, if something comes up that I feel I have to share, that may go up to three times per week.

For now, though, I think Mondays and Thursdays will be my regular days.

New Link

I may remove the My Sweet November link from the top menu bar and move it to another place on the page.

When I started this project, I decided to give My Sweet November its own platform. That way, it could be easily found with a simple search.

With that out of the way, it’s time to set up The Freelance Dance’s official blog.

Would I do it again?

Of course!! I love this journey and owe every bit of success I’ve achieved to Gina. She’s offering a course called 30 Days or Less to Virtual Assitant Success, which I may take in the future and blog my way through. I’m open to anything!

The bootstrapper in me will wait until I can afford to do it. Who knows, that may be sooner rather than later 😉

Course Discount

You read that right!! From now through November 30th, you can start your own Sweet November, December, or whatever month you choose with a 20% discount off of 30 Days or Less to Freelance Writing Success!! This discount applies to all three packages.

30 Days or Less to Freelance Writing Success

This means you can take charge and find your own success and it’ll cost you 20% less than what I paid!

Why not you, why not now?

Gina says that a lot.

It’s true. Those words got me thinking about this process in the first place. Maybe they’ll get you thinking too.

I’ll close with this:

For the first time in a very long time, I’m excited about what the future will bring. Blogging my way through Gina Horkey’s course did that for me. A door has opened where I once had no hope.

For that, I’ll be forever grateful! Thank you, Gina!
